Togetherall Talks podcast with Student Voice Advocate Callum Perry
April 05 2023
In this podcast, from our series Togetherall Talks, host Sam Stone talks to Callum Perry, MRes and Ph.D. student at the University of East Anglia (UEA).
The breadth of Callum’s experience is driven by his passion for helping students to get the most out of their time at university.
He served as Undergraduate Education Officer at the UEA student union for 2 years and has been involved in a number of student advisory roles, including as an Office for Students TEF Panel Member and sitting on the Student Strategic Advisory Committee for the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).
Throughout his student career, Callum has spearheaded numerous accessibility, diversity, and inclusion campaigns on campus and is helping to develop a teaching excellence framework for the Student Office at UEA. He is dedicated to bringing the student voice to university and sector policy and practice.
“Lots of students have support tools available to them but if there’s not that sense of community, and feeling that you can go anywhere and you will not be judged, the tools aren’t going to be as effective as they should be.”
In this episode, Callum speaks more about his experience, the questions that are currently driving student wellbeing policy, and how peer support and learning is enabling students to build self-serving communities.

This is the third episode in the Togetherall Talks series, where Sam speaks to experts, advocates, and her student peers about the benefits of sharing experiences and the power that stigma-free conversations about mental health can have.
