The Scanlan Center for School Mental Health brings clinically moderated peer support to Iowa PK-12 educators

Prioritizing Iowa educators’ emotional wellbeing with Togetherall’s peer-to-peer community

We are excited to welcome the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health to the Togetherall community.

Iowa-based educators, levels Pre-K through 12th grade, can now access a clinically moderated mental health support resource where they can connect with a global community of peers.

The Scanlan Center for School Mental Health launched a partnership with Togetherall, a safe and anonymous space in which educators can benefit from an online peer-to-peer community by giving and getting support 24/7.

Alissa Doobay, Ph.D., Director of Clinical Services for the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health, said,

It is so important that educators have a safe space to connect with peers who have shared experiences, discuss what’s on their minds, and understand more about how they are feeling. By offering Togetherall as a complement to our clinical services, we are making online peer support easily accessible for Iowa’s educators.

The Scanlan Center for School Mental Health clinic offers Togetherall’s platform in addition to its existing services, including one-on-one short-term counseling, group counseling, and post-crisis debriefing to Iowa-based PreK-12 students and school staff. The Center also delivers professional development, conducts rigorous research, provides a training ground for future school mental health professionals, and leads programming for higher education faculty and staff.

A main priority for Dr. Doobay and her colleagues is addressing the current strain on educators. Dr. Doobay said,

Educators are indicating unprecedented levels of burnout and stress. Togetherall’s online educator peer support community provides an additional level of care and connection in a risk-managed environment.

Togetherall’s peer support model is unique in its offering: we are the leading clinically moderated peer-to-peer support service, providing a level of unmatched clinical rigor, ensuring round-the-clock oversight of our community, and immediate clinical intervention, if the need arises.

Educators can access the platform by selecting “Scanlan Center for School Mental Health” on the Togetherall log-in page.

We look forward to partnering with the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health and supporting their hardworking educators into 2023 and beyond.
