Davidson College provides digital peer-to-peer support for students, enhancing their stepped care model
January 06 2025
We are excited to announce that students at Davidson College now have access to a clinically moderated mental health support resource. Through a newly established collaboration with Togetherall, students can engage with a global community of peers, giving and getting peer-to-peer support in a safe and anonymous online environment, available 24/7/365.
Based in Davidson, outside Charlotte, North Carolina, Davidson College is steeped in history and home to nearly 2,000 students. Alexis Fintchre LCMHC, CCTP, NCC, Counselor, Diversity Equity and Inclusion Outreach Coordinator and David Graham, Director of Counseling Services, Ph.D., LCMHCS, and their team work with a stepped care model to support the mental health of Davidson’s student body. The model allows mental health clinicians to meet students where they are on their mental health journey, a process that isn’t always linear. See the graphic below for an example of how Davidson approaches a stepped care model.
While in-person support services can be a good fit for some students, other students may need a different offering, or those students reaping the benefits of in-person support might need help between counseling sessions.
That’s where Togetherall came in. Alexis Fintchre and Dr. Graham were looking for a self-sustaining, clinically overseen, peer-to-peer support offering to enhance their existing stepped care model and in-person peer-to-peer services. Alexis Fintchre spoke to the importance of Togetherall’s clinical moderation in Davidson’s decision to bring them on:
“The most critical feature that guided our decision to collaborate with Togetherall is the 24/7 access to a securely monitored site that provides students access to a judgement-free space. It is also important to note that Togetherall has a ‘safety net’ to ‘catch’ students who may be in crisis, which ensures participants do not fall through the cracks like on social media platforms.”
Alexis Fintchre went on to say of the newly established collaboration,
“Davidson College students are known to be tight-knit and community-oriented. The addition of Togetherall to already existing peer-to-peer support, like Mental Health Ambassadors and Health Advisers, can only amplify the importance of prioritizing and openly discussing mental health. We hope this platform will help others form virtual bonds through relatable struggle and mutual support.”
Togetherall is honored to collaborate with Davidson College and looks forward to supporting their students throughout this school year and beyond.
