Shropshire County Council renews partnership with Togetherall to strengthen access to mental health support

Shropshire County’s residents will continue to have 24/7/365 access to digital peer-to-peer support

We are thrilled to announce that Shropshire County Council has renewed its partnership with Togetherall, ensuring that the county’s 16+ residents continue to have access to a safe and clinically moderated online community for mental health and wellbeing support. The recently renewed partnership marks a continued commitment to tackling health inequalities and expanding access to early intervention services across the region.

Located in a predominantly rural area with an ageing population, and growing demand for mental health support, Shropshire recognises the importance of providing flexible alternatives to traditional services. Barriers such as geographical isolation and limited access outside of working hours have made Togetherall a particularly valuable resource for the community.

Meeting the needs of a diverse population

Through Togetherall’s digital platform, residents can connect with others 24/7 in an anonymous, supportive environment, guided by licensed clinicians. The online community also offers self-help resources and is routinely signposted by local partners, including social prescribers and Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations. This has proved vital in reaching individuals who prefer non-clinical entry points or those who are waiting to access more formal care.

Gordon Kochane, Public Health Consultant for Shropshire County Council, said:

“Shropshire Council is proud to continue to collaborate with Togetherall as part of our commitment to improving access to mental health and wellbeing support for our residents. As a large rural area with an ageing population, geographical isolation, and rising demand for support, we recognised the need for accessible, anonymous options alongside traditional services.”

Mr. Kochane continued:

“Togetherall’s 24/7 clinically moderated peer support platform aligns with our trauma-informed values and prevention priorities, offering residents a safe space to connect, reflect, and access self-help resources. It is now routinely signposted by a range of partners — including social prescribers and VCSE organisations — particularly for those who may be waiting for support or prefer a non-clinical first step.”

Driving prevention and early intervention

Togetherall’s positive effect on Shropshire County’s residents is evident. Data shows that:

  • 62% of residents accessing Togetherall had no other form of mental health support available to them.
  • 66% of members accessed support outside of traditional service hours, highlighting the importance of 24/7 availability.
  • The platform has been successful in reaching underserved groups, including those who are unemployed, living alone, or experiencing homelessness.

Importantly, the service also provides a layer of clinical rigour and duty of care, ensuring that residents in crisis are appropriately supported by licensed mental health professionals, helping to safeguard individuals who may be disconnected from the health system. Togetherall can be trusted by commissioners and members alike, providing a level clinical oversight that other peer support services don’t offer.

“Togetherall has become a valued part of our mental health prevention offer in Shropshire, supporting early intervention, system pressure reduction, and improved choice for residents. We continue to explore how digital support can complement trauma-informed care and strengthen emotional resilience across our communities,” added Mr. Kochane.

The renewal of this partnership underlines Shropshire Council’s dedication to creating a healthy environment that is accessible, equitable, and supportive of emotional resilience.
