Glasgow City Council renews partnership with Togetherall to continue mental health support for young people
April 01 2026
We are pleased to announce that Glasgow City Council Education Services and Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) have renewed their partnership with Togetherall, ensuring that young people aged 16 to 24 living across the city can continue to access a safe, clinically moderated online community for mental health and wellbeing support. This renewal marks five years of partnership and reflects a sustained commitment to reaching vulnerable young people through innovative, accessible digital services.
With approximately 78,000 young people across Glasgow City, and growing demand for mental health provision, Glasgow City Council recognises the importance of offering flexible, anonymous support that sits alongside and integrates with traditional care pathways. For many young people, particularly those who are not engaged with existing services, Togetherall has provided a vital first point of contact.
Reaching those most in need
The impact of the partnership across its first five years is clear. Data highlights the extent to which Togetherall has extended Glasgow’s mental health reach:
- 74% of young people using the platform were not accessing any traditional or formal mental health support
- 90% of young people rated their own mental health as poor or very poor at the point of access
- 55% had experienced thoughts of self-harm or ending their own life
- 70% of members received one-to-one support from a licensed Togetherall clinician
- 70% accessed support outside of traditional service hours
These figures underline the critical role Togetherall plays in reaching young people who may otherwise remain unsupported, offering them a safe, anonymous space to connect and share at their own pace.
Barry Syme, Principal Educational Psychologist at Glasgow Educational Psychology Service, said:
“Glasgow City Council Education Services and Glasgow City HSCP are delighted to renew the contract with Togetherall to provide continued online mental health and wellbeing support for all young people aged 16 to 24 years living in the City. Over the past five years, the partnership between Glasgow and Togetherall has had a positive impact on young people, many of whom are vulnerable or not accessing existing support services. The platform creates a safe, anonymous space for individuals to connect and share at their own pace and integrates with traditional care systems.
At a time where we see more artificial intelligence providing online advice to young people, with Togetherall we know that there is rigorous clinical supervision 24/7 and accountability for the care they provide. The online moderators take responsibility for young people who may be in crisis and provide support. This is essential for the Council to ensure we maintain our safeguarding responsibilities when commissioning services.”
The renewal means young people across Glasgow can continue to access support with the knowledge that real, licensed clinicians are there behind every interaction, 24/7. In a digital landscape where that level of oversight cannot be taken for granted, it gives both the Council and the young people they serve genuine confidence that the care on offer is safe, accountable, and always on.
