Togetherall’s internal standards align with the clinical governance, safety practices, and quality criteria defined for software as a medical device in the UK. This compliance reflects our commitment to providing safe, evidence-informed peer-to-peer mental health support.
As per guidelines from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), Togetherall makes available these instructions for use of the Togetherall web application for those wishing to use this service or make it available to be used by others.

‘Member’ means an individual that has registered as such on the site and has had a member account set up on the site.
‘Member Name’ means the anonymous username you select to identify yourself to other members.
‘Personal Information’ means information about an identifiable individual, including you and others, e.g. your real name, email address, postal code, phone number and date of birth.

The Togetherall community is designed to provide support to members experiencing routine challenges of life – ranging from everyday upsets up to diagnosed mental health concerns. Togetherall provides a space for people to anonymously give/receive peer support without judgement, and they can also benefit from the use of practical wellbeing tools and resources. Togetherall is available 24/7 and is moderated by registered and/or licenced mental health professionals.
We do not have a single targeted clinical symptom or condition, as Togetherall provides a community and facilitates connection of people with relatable concerns across the full spectrum of life and lived experience. Togetherall is suitable for a whole range of people, for example those who are struggling with loneliness, stress, worry, depression, amongst other mild-moderate mental health symptoms/conditions.
Togetherall provides an online community of real people who can understand and support each other with what is on their mind. Togetherall is designed so that it is helpful for people’s mental health, and to bring benefit through giving support to others. The peer to peer community itself contains therapeutic ingredients (a therapeutic ingredient is something that people do naturally, without training), as demonstrated within the studies that form Togetherall’s clinical evidence.
Human connections with peers can reduce barriers to accessing support (stigma, practical barriers, timing, etc.), decrease the tendency to pathologize normal difficulties, help address shortfalls in capacity within communities, and meet a greater range of human needs. Prior research has empirically validated the efficacy of Togetherall peer support.
Togetherall does not have patients or provide traditional treatment. Anyone over the age of 16+, who is English speaking, and within an eligible population can use Togetherall. I.e. a student at a College/University, eligible through their institutional email address; or someone who lives in an area which has commissioned Togetherall, eligible via their postal code.
Togetherall is the ideal place for people to discuss life concerns with peers who have a shared lived experience. Reasons for utilising Togetherall will vary by member but could include needs that do not require traditional systems of support, inadequate community of support, stigma, access, or concerns with face-to-face or traditional treatment systems. People can use Togetherall as long as they have a mobile phone, tablet or computer, which can access an internet browser and has an internet connection.
Togetherall can be used by any member of an eligible population, regardless of their participation in healthcare, i.e. while waiting for treatments, concurrent with treatment, not undergoing treatment, following discharge from treatment (which may or may not be associated with the individual’s mental health). As Togetherall is available 24/7 it can be used as a form of support when traditional services may not be available and where it is not an emergency or crisis situation. There are no wait times to join Togetherall.
Togetherall is not intended to serve as a crisis service, though we maintain procedures to support members who are in crisis. If an eligible individual is actively in crisis, we can facilitate connections to emergency services but it would be faster for the member to access those services directly. Additionally, members are required to adhere to our House Rules and sometimes members may struggle to do so as a consequence of symptoms such as mania, psychosis, intoxication, etc. However, even in these situations the Togetherall clinical moderators will work with the individual to connect them to more appropriate services.
Togetherall’s peer community is continuously moderated by registered/licensed mental health professionals who are charged with keeping the community and resulting content healthy, supportive, and safe. However, members could encounter content that they might prefer not to see. We do provide members with the ability to filter content out through selecting to see/avoid categories. Posts that are accurately categorised based on the type of content will be filtered based on the preferences of the user. This risk is a fact of life for the internet in general, is the same for any Digital Mental Health Technology and is dramatically lower as a result of the clinical moderation carried out by Togetherall.
